Dalyan, Turkey

Back in late September Mr M and I spent 10 days in Turkey. Yes, I know that it was a long time ago, but my blogging has been a bit neglected lately. Anyway, better late than never here is a short post about the trip.

We stayed at the Aydos club hotel in Dalyan, South-east Turkey. The hotel is right on the river and has its own boat which you can take past the Lycian rock tombs  to Iztuzu beach on most days.

A lot of the trips from the hotel were also by boat and we went to the ruins of Caunos, an ancient city dating back to around 900 bc.

We also took an evening trip to the local mud baths after a great barbecue on a volcanic lake.

Dalyan town was close enough for us to walk up each evening and explore the local restaurants, we mostly ate in non-tourist places and had fantastic food for very little money all holiday. We also took a walk up to have a look around the market which was mostly selling fake goods and fruit and vegetables.

Most of our time, however, was spent at the hotel’s pool relaxing in the sunshine. Mr M and I even managed to come home with a little bit of a tan which is pretty much unheard of.
